Industrie und Klinik Plattform „mediMESH“ – erfolgreiche Konzeptphase
Ausgehend vom Forschungscampus STIMULATE wurde das vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) geförderte Industrie-in-Klinik-Projekt von Prof. Pech, Dr. Grosser (Direktor bzw. leitender Physiker an der Klinik für Radiologie und Nuklearmedizin des Universitätsklinikums Magdeburg), Herrn Trautwein (Geschäftsführer der Raylytic GmbH) sowie Prof. Rose (Sprecher des Forschungscampus STIMULATE) initiiert und anschließend durch das Projektteam, bestehend aus Dr. Enrico Pannicke, Julian Rudat, Dr. Jasmin Lother, Constantin Brenner, Dr. Bennet Hensen und Dr. Thomas Hoffmann, bis zur Etablierung eines Plattformkonzepts weitergeführt.
Die wahrgenommene Ausschreibung des BMBF leitet sich aus den Handlungsempfehlungen des nationalen Strategieprozesses „Innovationen in der Medizintechnik“ ab und zielt auf die Herausforderung zur Schaffung innovativer Forschungsstrukturen in der Medizintechnik sowie die verbesserte Vernetzung von Industrie und Klinik ab. Als ein Ergebnis werden Innovationshemmnisse beseitigt und die Produktentwicklungs- und Zulassungsprozesse von der Konzeption bis zum Produkt bzw. der Marktüberwachung beschleunigt.
Für die Umsetzung entwickelte das Projektteam das Plattformkonzept „mediMESH – clinical insights“ während einer halbjährigen, vom BMBF-geförderten Konzeptphase. Um die Bedürfnisse der MedTech-Unternehmen vollends erfüllen zu können, wurden über 15 solcher Unternehmen während der Konzeptphase von mediMESH in das Prototyping eingebunden. Das BMBF begutachtete den eingereichten vollumfänglichen Projektantrag mit Businessplan als positiv. Die Förderung unterstützt damit den Aufbau der Plattform zur Etablierung eines innovativen digitalen Geschäftsmodells. Diese beinhaltet sogenannte Modellvorhaben, durch welche die Dienstleistungen der Plattform ausgiebig am realen Markt umgesetzt werden. Im Zuge der positiven Begutachtung ist auch die Beantragung weiterer Modellvorhaben möglich.

Industry-in-clinic platform "mediMESH" - successful concept phase
Starting from the STIMULATE, the industry-in-clinic project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) was initiated by Prof. Pech, Dr. Grosser (director and senior physicist, respectively at the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Magdeburg University Hospital), Mr. Trautwein (managing director of Raylytic GmbH) and Prof. Rose (Speaker of the Research Campus STIMULATE) and then continued by the project team consisting of Dr. Enrico Pannicke, Julian Rudat, Dr. Jasmin Lother, Constantin Brenner, Dr. Bennet Hensen and Dr. Thomas Hoffmann until a platform concept was established.
The BMBF's perceived call for proposals is derived from the recommendations for action of the national strategy process "Innovations in Medical Technology" and aims at the challenge of creating innovative research structures in medical technology as well as improved networking between industry and clinics. As a result, barriers to innovation are removed and the product development and approval processes from conception to product or market surveillance are accelerated.
For the implementation, the project team developed the platform concept "mediMESH - clinical insights" during a six-month concept phase funded by the BMBF. In order to fully meet the needs of Medtech companies, more than 15 such companies were involved in the prototyping during the concept phase of mediMESH. The BMBF assessed the submitted project application with business plan as positive. The funding thus supports the development of the platform for establishing an innovative digital business model. This includes so-called model projects, through which the services of the platform are extensively implemented on the real market. In the course of the positive assessment, it is also possible to apply for further model projects.
