Erfolgreiches Eurographics Symposium „Visual Computing in Biology and Medicine“
Vom 19. bis 20. September 2024 fand am Forschungscampus STIMULATE das 14. Eurographics Symposium „Visual Computing in Biology and Medicine“ statt. Die Konferenz war ein bedeutendes Forum, auf dem neueste innovative Lösungen vorgestellt wurden, die Mediziner:innen und Biolog:innen helfen, diagnostische und therapeutische Entscheidungen auf Basis von Bilddaten zu treffen. Der Fokus lag auf der Nutzung radiologischer und mikroskopischer Bilddaten sowie einem breiten Spektrum an Analyse- und Visualisierungstechniken, einschließlich Virtual Reality.
Das Tagungsprogramm bot ein vielfältiges Spektrum an Fachvorträgen und spannenden Laborbesichtigungen. Zu den Höhepunkten zählten die eingeladenen Vorträge international renommierter Expert:innen. So sprach Prof. Kozlikova von der Masaryk Universität in Brno über die visuelle Darstellung von zeitveränderlichen biologischen Daten. Die Ärztin Dr. Hüttel hielt einen vielbeachteten Vortrag zum Thema „From Simulation to AI: Technological Revolution in Surgical Education“, in dem sie die neuesten technologischen Entwicklungen im Bereich der chirurgischen Ausbildung beleuchtete. In insgesamt vier fachlichen Sessions widmeten sich die Konferenz den Schwerpunktthemen „Medical Visualization and Surgical Assistance“, „Image Processing and Machine Learning“, „Immersive Visualization and Interaction“ sowie „Health Communication and Patient Reporting“.
Die Veranstaltung war sehr gut besucht und zog zahlreiche nationale und internationale Expertinnen und Experten an, die sich intensiv zu den neuesten Entwicklungen in der visuellen Computernutzung in der Medizin und Biologie austauschten. Mit dem Symposium bot der Forschungscampus STIMULATE eine exzellente Plattform für den interdisziplinären Dialog und setzte wichtige Impulse für die zukünftige Zusammenarbeit in Forschung und Anwendung. Besonderer Dank gebührt Prof. Preim, Prof. Hansen, PD Dr. Berg und Prof. Saalfeld für die Organisation des Symposiums.
Successful Eurographics Symposium ‘Visual Computing in Biology and Medicine’
From 19 to 20 September 2024, the 14th Eurographics Symposium ‘Visual Computing in Biology and Medicine’ took place at the Research Campus STIMULATE. The conference was an important forum at which the latest innovative solutions were presented to help doctors and biologists make diagnostic and therapeutic decisions based on image data. The focus was on the use of radiological and microscopic image data as well as a wide range of analysis and visualisation techniques, including virtual reality.
The conference programme offered a diverse range of specialist presentations and exciting laboratory tours. Among the highlights were the invited lectures by internationally renowned experts. Prof Kozlikova from Masaryk University in Brno spoke about the visual representation of time-varying biological data. Dr Hüttel gave a highly acclaimed lecture on ‘From Simulation to AI: Technological Revolution in Surgical Education’, in which she highlighted the latest technological developments in the field of surgical training. In a total of four specialist sessions, the conference focused on the key topics of ‘Medical Visualisation and Surgical Assistance’, ‘Image Processing and Machine Learning’, ‘Immersive Visualisation and Interaction’ and ‘Health Communication and Patient Reporting’.
The event was very well attended and attracted numerous national and international experts who discussed the latest developments in the use of visual computing in medicine and biology. With the symposium, the Research Campus STIMULATE offered an excellent platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and provided important impetus for future collaboration in research and application.
