EU-weites Marie-Sklodowska-Curie-Doktoranden-Netzwerk eingeworben
Ein bedeutendes Ziel der Partner im Forschungscampus STIMULATE ist die Aus- und Weiterbildung von Fachkräften im Bereich Medizintechnik. Die Forschungsgruppen Neuro Clinic (Prof. Behme) und Medical Flows (PD Dr. Berg) haben innerhalb eines EU-Konsortiums erfolgreich eine Doktorandenstelle in einem Marie-Sklodowska-Curie-Doktoranden-Netzwerk eingeworben. Das sogenannte BIOMEND-Netzwerk ist ein industrielles Promotionsnetzwerk und umfasst 15 Doktorandenstellen, durch welche eine interdisziplinäre Ausbildung und Forschung im Bereich BIOabsorbierbarer Metallischer ENdovaskulärer Medizinprodukte (BIOMEND) geboten wird. Während des dreijährigen Doktorandenprogramms werden die Promovierenden von akademischen und industriellen Mitgliedern des Konsortiums gemeinsam betreut.
Im Forschungsprogramm wird die Entwicklung bioabsorbierbarer Metalle der nächsten Generation für endovaskuläre medizinische Devices avisiert. BIOMEND wird dies durch die Entwicklung ultrafeinkörniger Magnesium- und Zinklegierungen erreichen, die eine hohe Festigkeit und eine hohe Duktilität aufweisen und durch innovative Beschichtungstechnologien verbesserte Korrosionseigenschaften besitzen. Diese neuartigen Magnesium- und Zink-Metalllegierungen werden zur Entwicklung, Konstruktion und Herstellung einer Reihe innovativer bioabsorbierbarer endovaskulärer medizinischer Devices für kardiovaskuläre und periphere Anwendungen eingesetzt.

Marie Sklodowska-Curie doctoral student network acquired
An important goal of the partners on the Research Campus STIMULATE is the training and further education of specialists in the field of medical technology. The Medical Flows research group has successfully acquired a doctoral position in a Marie Sklodowska-Curie doctoral network within an EU consortium. The so-called BIOMEND network is an industrial doctoral network and comprises 15 doctoral positions offering world-class interdisciplinary training in the field of bioabsorbable Metallic endovascular medical devices (BIOMEND). During the three-year doctoral program, doctoral students are jointly supervised by academic and industrial members of the consortium.
The research program aims to develop next-generation bioabsorbable metals for endovascular medical devices. BIOMEND will achieve this by developing ultra-fine-grained magnesium and zinc alloys that exhibit high strength and ductility and have improved corrosion properties through multi-layer coating technologies. These novel magnesium and zinc metal alloys will be used to develop, design and manufacture a range of innovative bioabsorbable endovascular medical devices for cardiovascular and peripheral applications.
