Girls' Day 2025: Medical technology - a professional sector with future
Am 03.04.2025 öffnete der Forschungscampus STIMULATE erneut seine Türen für den Girls’ Day 2025, um 30 jungen Schülerinnen faszinierende Einblicke in die Welt der Medizintechnik zu ermöglichen. Es wurde ein interaktives Programm geboten, das die Teilnehmerinnen für die innovativen Entwicklungen und beruflichen Möglichkeiten in dieser zukunftsweisenden Branche begeisterte.
Ein besonderes Highlight des Tages war die praxisnahe Erkundung zentraler Technologien aus der Medizintechnik. Die Schülerinnen lernten die Funktionsweise von Ultraschall, interventioneller Magnetresonanztomographie und Angiographie kennen und konnten teilweise selbst ausprobieren, wie diese bildgebenden Verfahren zur klinischen Behandlung eingesetzt werden. Auch Virtual Reality spielte eine große Rolle: In einer interaktiven Demonstration tauchten die Teilnehmerinnen in digitale OP-Simulationen ein und erlebten hautnah, wie moderne Technologien die Medizin revolutionieren.
Neben der Medizintechnik stand auch die Zukunft des Wissenschaftshafens Magdeburg im Fokus. Die Schülerinnen erfuhren mehr über das TransferRaum-Projekt transPORT, das den Standort durch innovative Kooperationen und nachhaltige Konzepte weiterentwickelt. In einem kreativen Workshop setzten sie selbst ein kleines Umweltprojekt zur Begrünung des Wissenschaftshafens um: Gemeinsam stellten sie Saatgutbälle her, die zur Langen Nacht der Wissenschaft am 14. Juni ausgebracht werden. So leisteten sie nicht nur einen Beitrag zur nachhaltigen Stadtgestaltung, sondern konnten auch hautnah erleben, wie Forschung, Transfer und gesellschaftliches Engagement zusammenwirken.
Ein weiteres zentrales Element des Girls’ Day war der persönliche Austausch mit Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern. Mitarbeitende des Forschungscampus STIMULATE berichteten von ihren individuellen Werdegängen in der Medizintechnik, ihren persönlichen Erfahrungen in Studium und Berufsleben sowie den vielseitigen Karrierewegen in diesem spannenden Feld. Dadurch erhielten die Schülerinnen wertvolle Einblicke in mögliche Zukunftsperspektiven und konnten ihre Fragen rund um Ausbildung, Studium und berufliche Entwicklung direkt mit Fachleuten besprechen.
Der Forschungscampus STIMULATE setzt sich aktiv dafür ein, junge Talente für technische und naturwissenschaftliche Berufe zu begeistern. Die große Neugier und Begeisterung der Teilnehmerinnen beim Girls’ Day 2025 haben einmal mehr gezeigt, wie wichtig es ist, frühzeitig Berührungspunkte mit Zukunftstechnologien zu schaffen und den Fachkräftenachwuchs gezielt zu fördern.

On Girls' Day 2025, the Research Campus STIMULATE once again opened its doors to give 30 young schoolgirls fascinating insights into the world of medical technology. An interactive programme was offered to inspire the participants about the innovative developments and career opportunities in this forward-looking industry.
A particular highlight of the day was the hands-on exploration of key medical technology technologies. The students learnt how ultrasound, interventional magnetic resonance imaging and angiography work and were able to try out for themselves how these imaging procedures are used for clinical treatment. Virtual reality also played a major role: in an interactive demonstration, the participants immersed themselves in digital surgical simulations and experienced at first hand how modern technologies are revolutionising medicine.
In addition to medical technology, the focus was also on the future of Magdeburg's science harbour. The students learnt more about the TransferRaum project transPORT, which is developing the site through innovative collaborations and sustainable concepts. In a creative workshop, they realised a small environmental project for the greening of the Port of Science themselves: Together, they made seed balls that will be planted during the Long Night of Science on 14 June. In this way, they not only made a contribution to sustainable urban design, but were also able to experience at first hand how research, transfer and social commitment work together.
Another key element of Girls' Day was the personal dialogue with scientists. Employees of the Research Campus STIMULATE talked about their individual careers in medical technology, their personal experiences during their studies and professional life as well as the diverse career paths in this exciting field. This gave the students valuable insights into possible future prospects and allowed them to discuss their questions about training, studying and career development directly with experts.
The Research Campus STIMULATE is actively committed to inspiring young talent for technical and scientific careers. The great curiosity and enthusiasm of the participants at Girls' Day 2025 showed once again how important it is to create points of contact with future technologies at an early stage and to specifically promote the next generation of skilled workers.
